New Report - Not going the extra mile: driving less to tackle climate change

A new report by the Green Alliance evidences how at the same time as accelerating the switch to electric vehicles, we need to cut traffic to meet UK climate targets.

Read the report.

This is why we've said the A38 expansion is the wrong solution to try and solve congestion. Read our blog about how the A38 expansion will not reduce congestion …but getting cars off the roads will.

More road space = more traffic + pollution.

We are in a climate emergency and need that £250 million ear marked for the A38 Derby Junctions invested in public transport, active travel and community car clubs instead to help reduce the number of vehicles on roads.

The UK government cannot achieve our transport emissions targets with the move to electric vehicles alone. To make sure climate targets are met, efforts must also be made to cut the number of car journeys.

As well as ensuring that the UK cuts emissions fast enough, traffic reduction measures would improve air quality and reduce congestion. They would improve the wellbeing of communities and save the economy billions of pounds.
